Brian began his career in 1983 as a staff photographer covering news, features and sports for a North Carolina daily newspaper. His photojournalism was recognized with numerous awards from the NC Press Association and the Associated Press. During this period, Brian also freelanced for national and international publications. His early subjects were diverse, from documentation of strife on children during Sandinista era in war torn Nicaragua, crack cocaine dealers, the KKK, to the shrimping industry and hundreds of other feature stories.

In 1990, after being selected as a Rotary exchange student in Venezuela, Brian began freelancing exclusively focusing on news, public relations, advertising and product photography. He has covered an array of national stories including the Branch Davidian conflict in Waco, TX, Oklahoma City Bombing, the tragedy of Jon Benet Ramsey, OJ Simpson, and the student shootings at Columbine High School to name a few.

Brian's commercial clients are diverse from health care to the furniture industry.
